Racing Rules of Sailing

For a quick summary of the key rules, read Coach George's Top 10 Racing Rules. If you're ready for the unabridged version, you can get your very own copy here . The whole thing is nearly 50 pages long, but 99% of what you need to know is in Part 2: When Boats Meet (pp. 9-14). It might also be a good idea to study the flags on the first two preface pages (sooner or later, you’ll wish you had!)
