Bill Symes

Bill Symes is an internationally-ranked competitor in the Laser class with more than 45 years experience racing sailboats and teaching sailing. He was a member of Newport Harbor Yacht Club’s North American Junior Sailing Championship (Sears Cup) team in 1963, USC’s collegiate sailing national championship team in 1967, and is a former national champion in several one-design classes. Bill is currently head coach of the Portland State University sailing team, ranked second in the NWICSA in 2006.

George Yioulos

George is founder and president of West Coast Sailing. At the University of Oregon, he raced four years as varsity skipper, coordinating the team for his final three years. George was twice named to the All-Northwest Collegiate Sailing Team. He served as Vice-President of the NW district for two years, and currently is Treasurer. In his senior year, a national committee selected George for the Jim Rousmaniere Student Leadership Award. George joined three sailors that year placed into the College Sailing Hall of Fame.
