Welcome to the home of Vanguard 15 Fleet #69. We are based out of the Willamette Sailing Club located in Portland, Oregon. Our facility is very convenient to the Portland metropolitan area sited on the Willamette River between the Ross Island and Sellwood Bridges. The Vanguard 15 class was founded about eight years ago and is the fastest growing fleet at WSC and one of the fastest growing one-design classes in the country. We now have 16 boats in the fleet and expect continued growth in 2004. Our fleet has sailors at all ability levels and the V-15 is the boat used by the WSC Sailing School. The V-15 is an exciting two person planing dinghy that is easy to handle and doesn’t depend on the size or strength of the sailors. Its clean and simple design cuts maintenance to a minimum and its strict one-design rules eliminate the need to endlessly tune the boat or spend large sums of money upgrading. It is ideal for both high caliber fleet racing and for day sailing with the family. Colleges and Yacht Clubs have started purchasing V-15 fleets as they are becoming the double-handed, high speed, simple, durable, lightweight, transportable, competitive, and fun class to sail in. If you are looking for an active and competitive dinghy fleet in the Portland area, then the V-15 fleet at WSC is your best bet.
