Rules: This regatta will be governed by the ISAF Racing Rules of Sailing 2005-2008 and the prescriptions of US Sailing and the Thistle Class Association, except as any of these are altered by the Sailing Instructions.

All yachts must be Thistle Class Association registered and dues paid.

Measurements may be checked.

Regatta Registration: By mail (see registration form below) or in person. Please pre-register for this event if at all possible.

Racing: We are planning on sailing as many races as possible. The minimum for a regatta will be three races. There will be no races started after 3pm on Sunday

Scoring: The low point scoring system, Appendix A, will apply, with no throw-outs. Each boat’s score will be the sum of all races sailed.

Tent Camping Details: Tent camping (not RV camping) at Cougar Camp will be available for Friday and Saturday night. We expect that our group camp site will accommodate all the tents that participants will use. However, only 15 vehicles are allowed to park in the group camp area. The first 15 boats to request campsites and send in their registration with payment will receive a group campsite hangtag that allows you to park your car in the camp site and also covers the day use and launch fees for the park. Send in your registration early!

All other vehicles beyond the first 15 registrants, and any additional vehicles for the first 15 registrants, must purchase passes at the campground and park their cars in the parking lot across the driveway from the camp site.

We expect the fees to be as follows: $2.00 day use, $3.00 launch, $5.00 overnight parking in overflow lot just outside group site. These fees apply to any vehicles that do not have one of the 15 hangtags.

Cougar Campground is an alcohol free venue.

Note: If you pre-register you will get a confirmation in the mail (if you are one of the first 15). You MUST bring that confirmation and show it at the gate or you will have to pay to get into the park!

Directions: From I-5, take the Woodland exit and go east 33.5 miles on Hwy 503. Proceed past the town of Cougar, and the campground is on the right. To get to either the group campsite or launch area you enter at the first entrance (the first right after metropolis of Cougar).

Boat Storage: There is a parking lot at the campground near the boat ramp where competitors can store their boats overnight on trailers, mast up.

RV Camping: RVs are not allowed in the Cougar camp ground for overnight camping. Only tents are allowed in the Cougar group campsite. This also means no “pop-up” tent trailers. You can get an RV camp spot at Beaver Bay campground (a mile or so down the lake) on a first-come-first-served basis. Call PacifiCorp's recreation line at (503) 813-6666 for information. You can reserve a spot at Cougar RV Park & Campground, (360) 238-5224.

Alternate housing: There are motels in Woodland and Vancouver. Contact the regatta chair if you have trouble finding a place to stay.
