What is a Europe?

A Europe is a single-handed, centerboard dinghy. Because the mast and sail are selected and adjusted to the sailor's height and weight, the ideal weight for a Europe sailor can range from 110 - 160 pounds. The boats small, light frame (99 lbs) makes it easily transportable for traveling across the country or just up to the Columbia Gorge. With 76 sq. ft of sail, it has the same sail area as a Laser, and the light hull and low boom make it an exciting ride for an active sailor.

What is the Portland Europe Fleet?

The local Europe fleet has tripled in size the last two years. We have weeknight races on the Willamette in the summer, and enjoy traveling down south for regattas in the winter. We're a growing fleet looking for more active, fun-loving, sailors to join us on the start line. We will also be sailing in the gorge this summer, with a couple of clinics and the Subaru Gorge Games in July.
